TestSwap connects two learners who want each other's test date. No bots. No third-party bookings. Just a peer-to-peer match and a 5-minute call to DVSA.
DVSA 20-Mile Rule: Swaps are only permitted between test centres within approximately 20 miles of each other. TestSwap enforces this automatically.
10 Working Days Rule: DVSA cannot change a booking within 10 working days of the test date. Cancelling in this window means losing your test fee.
Create your account at testswap.com. It takes under two minutes. Add your current DVSA practical driving test details: test centre, date, and time. We store your reference securely with AES-256 encryption.
Your DVSA booking reference is encrypted immediately on entry. It is never shown to anyone except your matched swap partner — and only after both parties have agreed.
Tell us your preferred date range and which test centre you want. You can stick to your current centre or accept any centre within the DVSA 20-mile coordination zone — the bigger your range, the faster you match.
The DVSA rules allow swaps between centres within 20 miles. Our system automatically filters matches to stay compliant. No manual checks needed.
The moment you submit your swap request, TestSwap runs the matching engine for you. It looks for a learner whose current test date is what you want AND who wants the date you hold. It is a true two-way match — no manual work on your part.
The engine runs every 15 minutes. It checks all pending swap requests and finds true two-way matches automatically — no manual work required.
When a match is found, both learners are notified by email (and SMS if enabled). You each see the new date, centre, and time you'd receive. Click "I Agree" if you're happy — you have 24 hours to respond.
Neither learner can see the other's personal details at this stage. Only if both click "I Agree" does the swap proceed to the next step.
After both parties agree, you each receive the other's DVSA booking reference. Both of you independently call DVSA on 0300 200 1122, quote both references, and ask to transfer the booking. The call takes about 5 minutes.
DVSA handle the actual date transfer. TestSwap is the platform that finds the match and coordinates the exchange of references. We are not affiliated with DVSA.
That's it. Both learners have swapped their DVSA booking dates. Mark the swap as complete in your dashboard. You can do up to 2 swaps total. After your first successful swap, you can submit a second request if you need to.
DVSA confirm the new booking on the call. You will also receive an updated confirmation from DVSA by email.

If your current test date is within 10 working days, DVSA will not allow the date to be changed. You can cancel your booking but you will lose your test fee. Make sure your test is more than 10 working days away before attempting a swap. TestSwap will flag this so you are always aware.
Yes. If you change your test date or centre directly on gov.uk, log in to TestSwap and go to your dashboard. You will see an "Edit booking" button under your test details — update it there so your swap request stays accurate and you get matched correctly.
