To complete a swap
A driving test swap is when two DVSA test candidates who each hold a booking at the same test centre agree to take each other's date. Both parties independently contact DVSA and use each other's booking reference to transfer the booking into their own name.
For example: Learner A has a test at Leeds Fearnville on 14 July and wants something in June. Learner B has a test at Leeds Fearnville on 3 June and needs to push theirs back to July. They are a perfect swap. Both call DVSA, quote each other's reference, and confirm the transfer. The result: Learner A gets 3 June, Learner B gets 14 July.

Important: Driving test swaps can only happen between learners at the same test centre. You cannot swap a Birmingham booking for a Manchester booking. Both learners must hold a booking at the same DVSA test centre location.

Both parties agree to the swap
You and your match must both confirm the swap on TestSwap. Neither party's DVSA reference is revealed until both have agreed. This protects both learners.
Call DVSA on 0300 200 1122
Once both parties have agreed, TestSwap securely shares each learner's DVSA booking reference. Each person then independently calls DVSA on 0300 200 1122 and uses the other person's reference to transfer the booking to their name. The call typically takes under 10 minutes.
Swap complete — check your DVSA account
After both calls are made, log in to your DVSA account at gov.uk to confirm your new test date. The swap is legally complete once DVSA has processed both rebookings.
