The turn in the road was removed from the compulsory test manoeuvres in 2017 — but it's still a vital real-world skill every driver needs.
The turn in the road — sometimes called the three-point turn — was officially removed from the list of compulsory driving test manoeuvres in December 2017. However, most instructors still teach it because you might need to do it during independent driving or if the examiner uses a road that requires it. Knowing how to execute it safely is a core skill.
Signal right (optional on quiet road). Check all around. Move forward slowly, turning the steering wheel briskly right. When you approach the opposite kerb, straighten and stop. Engage reverse, check all around again. Reverse slowly, steering left. When approaching the kerb behind, straighten and stop. Move forward to complete the turn. Three moves if the road is wide enough.
